Roll matting is polyethylene foam produced in wide, long-length rolls. Because it unrolls flat, weighs little and blocks moisture, it's used both in packaging and as floor underlay.
In packaging
Roll matting is the practical answer for wrapping large or irregular products. Furniture, panels, profiles and machine parts are wrapped with pieces cut from the roll — faster than cutting individual pieces, and with less waste.
Flooring and insulation
Laid under laminate and similar coverings it reduces footfall noise and tolerates small irregularities in the subfloor. Its closed-cell structure also forms a barrier against moisture rising from below.
Thickness and density

- It depends on how flat the subfloor is and how much sound reduction you want. Thicker matting tolerates irregularities better and cuts more footfall noise. Tell us about the floor and covering and we'll advise.
- Is roll matting enough as a moisture barrier?
- Closed-cell PE foam blocks moisture and acts as a barrier. Where heavy moisture is expected from the subfloor, a separate vapour barrier is recommended as well.
- Can it be made to my width?
