PE Foam Separator
Die-cut PE foam consists of custom nests machined to match the exact geometry of the product. This form locks parts in place and prevents movement during transit, protecting the most critical items from electronic devices to precision machine parts. Its orderly in-box layout delivers both protection and a professional presentation.
Key Properties
- Product-specific machined nest
- Exact-fit retention
- Movement and vibration control
- Precision-part protection
- Orderly in-box layout
- Professional presentation
Overview
A PE foam separator is a dividing layer cut from polyethylene foam. Economical and adequate for surface protection, it's the most widely used divider wherever many parts travel in the same carton or on the same pallet.
As an interleaf
Parts stacked on each other rubbing together is the commonest cause of scratching and surface damage. A thin PE foam layer between them breaks that contact and lets the stack settle. It's the standard answer for glass, panels, metal sheet and painted surfaces.
Cavitied separators
Beyond flat interleaving, separators are also cut with cavities matched to the product, so each part stays in its own recess and cannot move inside the box. Cavity depth follows part height and the protection level required.
The cost balance
PE foam is cheaper than EVA and sufficient where mid-level protection is needed. Heavy products or a high impact risk call for EVA; light parts where surface protection leads are right for PE foam.
PE foam is the most common answer to a packaging separator requirement: economical, light, and enough surface protection to divide layers inside a box or case.

Frequently Asked Questions
- When is a PE foam separator not enough?
- Under heavy parts or where drop risk is high, PE foam can crush permanently and the protection is lost. Move to EVA or a high-density material in those cases.
- Do you cut to pallet size?
- Yes. Layers are cut to standard pallet sizes or to your own carton dimensions — just send the measurement.
- Is a sample needed for cavitied separators?
- For cavity work a sample is produced first; production follows once fit and depth are approved.
