Foam Profile (Edge/Corner)
Foam profiles with U, L and V cross-sections give targeted protection to the edges and corners that are a product's most vulnerable points. Their snug-fit shape holds them firmly in place across the zones where impacts concentrate. Profiles markedly reduce damage risk when shipping furniture edges, glass packs and metal joinery.
Key Properties
- U, L and V cross-sections
- Edge and corner protection
- Snug-fit hold
- Targeted impact absorption
- Suited to glass and metal shipping
- Quick to fit
Overview
Profile foam is polyethylene foam produced in set sections to protect the points that take the most damage — edges and corners. U-profile, L-profile, corner blocks and pipe sleeves are the common forms.
Why edges and corners
Most transit damage concentrates at edges and corners: impact focuses on a small area there and crushes the surface. Protecting only those points, rather than covering the whole surface, cuts both material cost and packing time noticeably.
Profile types
U-profile slips over the edge of thin-section products like sheets and panels. L-profile wraps the corner line. Corner blocks sit at the four corners of a carton and carry the stacking load. Pipe sleeves surround cylindrical parts against both impact and scratching.
Applying them
Profiles are usually fitted by hand and held with stretch film or tape. Section size follows the thickness of the part: too loose and it slides off, too tight and it won't fit. Send your dimensions and we'll recommend the section.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Which profile type should I choose?
- U-profile for thin sheets and panels, L-profile to wrap a corner line, corner blocks to carry stacking load at carton corners, pipe sleeves for cylindrical parts. Send your dimensions and we'll recommend the section.
- Will the profile slip off?
- Sized correctly it grips firmly. Stretch film or tape secures it further, and a self-adhesive version is available.
- Do you produce custom sections?
- Beyond the standard sections, custom profiles are produced to your product's dimensions. Send the measurement and estimated quantity.
