Overview
PE foam sheet is a lightweight, closed-cell protective material based on polyethylene. Economical, non-absorbent and adequately shock-damping, it's one of the most widely used materials in general-purpose protective packaging.
Where it leads
PE foam is the material for work that doesn't need EVA-level impact absorption but still calls for surface protection and cushioning — protecting furniture corners, separating appliance surfaces against scratching, interleaving glass and panel products. Its low weight also pulls down freight cost on bulky shipments.
Choosing density
Low-density PE foam is soft and protects against scratching, but crushes permanently under heavy loads. As weight rises, either density or thickness must rise with it. Product weight, drop height and stacking load are assessed together.
Forms
Beyond sheet, it's produced as roll, profile (edge and corner protectors), bags and die-cut separators. Sheets laminate for greater thickness, and a self-adhesive option applies directly to the surface.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What's the difference between PE foam and EVA?
- Both are closed-cell. PE foam is cheaper and lighter, and sufficient for surface protection and general cushioning. EVA absorbs more impact and recovers better, so it's chosen for heavy or sensitive products.
- Does PE foam absorb moisture?
- No. Its closed-cell structure blocks water and moisture, which makes it suitable for long-term storage and sea freight.
- Should I buy roll or sheet?
- Roll is practical for wrapping and surface protection. Sheet is used where in-box layouts, separators and die-cutting are involved.
