Overview
Acoustic pyramid foam is a polyurethane-based treatment whose regular pyramid profile scatters sound waves, reducing echo and room noise. Sound striking a flat surface reflects straight back; the pyramid geometry breaks the waves across different angles, and the porous structure converts the energy to heat inside the material.
Absorption is not insulation
This is the most common misunderstanding. Acoustic foam **absorbs** sound: it reduces echo, ringing and reverberation inside a room. **Insulation** means stopping sound passing through a wall to the neighbour, and that requires mass. Pyramid foam will not meaningfully reduce what your neighbour hears; it corrects the acoustics of the room itself. Where insulation is the goal, it must be combined with dense, heavy layers.
Thickness and frequency
Thickness determines which frequencies are absorbed. Thin profiles absorb high frequencies; thicker profiles reach into the mid and lower range. Controlling bass needs deeper solutions such as corner traps. In studios and recording rooms, combining thicknesses gives a more balanced result.
Placement
