Polyurethane Foam Separator
Die-cut foam is a professional protection solution shaped to millimetric precision according to your product's geometry, providing a dedicated cavity for each item. By keeping products fixed in place, it prevents shifting and collision during transport of electronics, medical and sensitive equipment. Multi-layer cuts deliver in-box organization and a premium unboxing experience.
Key Properties
- Product-specific cavity design
- Millimetric cutting precision
- Anti-slip secure fit
- Multi-layer internal layout
- Sensitive equipment protection
- Premium presentation and organization
Overview
A polyurethane foam separator is a layer cut from open-cell PU foam that divides products and holds them in their recesses. Its softness grips delicate surfaces without scratching, and its low cost brings down the total on multi-part shipments.
The advantage of softness
On polished, painted or coated surfaces a firm foam can leave a contact mark. PU foam spreads the pressure over a wider area and reduces that risk — which is why it's chosen for gloss-finished products, optical parts and decorative goods.
Where it reaches its limit
The open-cell structure holds moisture. Sea freight, open storage or a humid production environment call for closed-cell EVA or XPE instead. Under heavy parts, too, an under-specified density lets the foam crush and the protection disappears.
Production
Blocks are sliced to thickness, then CNC or steel-rule die cuts the cavities. In multi-layer arrangements, different densities can be combined — load-bearing underneath, soft contact on top.
A polyurethane foam packaging separator suits heavy, impact-sensitive parts: the open cells absorb energy as they compress and let the part settle under its own weight.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Does it mark delicate surfaces?
- PU foam is soft and spreads pressure widely, so the risk of marking is markedly lower than with firm foams. For very delicate polished surfaces, a flocked or velvet-lined option is also available.
- Can it be used in humid conditions?
- Not recommended. The open-cell structure retains moisture. For sea freight or damp storage, use a closed-cell EVA or XPE separator.
- Is it suitable for heavy parts?
- Yes with the right density; too low and the foam crushes permanently and protection is lost. Send the part weight and we'll recommend a density.
