Shaped EVA cutting
Shaped EVA cutting recesses the EVA sheet to the form of the product. EVA is closed-cell and resilient, so the cut edge stays crisp and the cavity does not slacken over time — which is why it is preferred for case interiors, tool-kit beds and boxes opened and closed repeatedly. Die-cutting becomes economical as quantity rises; at low volume and complex geometry, CNC and water jet suit better.
EVA cutting turns ethylene-vinyl acetate foam into product-specific cavities, separators and fitted interiors. Three things make EVA the usual choice: it cuts with a clean, dust-free edge; being closed-cell it takes up no water or moisture; and because it recovers after compression it lasts in cavities that are opened repeatedly.
When EVA, when something else
EVA is not the right answer to every job. Where sound absorption and soft contact are needed, open-cell polyurethane foam suits better. Where shipping weight is critical — air freight and export — XPE gives the same protection lighter. Where surface protection alone is enough, PE foam is markedly cheaper. EVA is the material for work that needs impact absorption and cut quality together.
Choosing density
Light electronic components are damped well by low-density EVA; heavy metal parts need high density, or the foam collapses and the protection is lost. Colour is a choice too: in mass-pigmented EVA the cut edge is the same colour, so in presentation boxes where the cavity is visible, scratching doesn't expose a different shade.
Self-adhesive and lamination
Where the cut part must stay put, it is produced in self-adhesive EVA so placement and fixing happen in one step on assembly. Where a cavity deeper than stock thickness is needed, sheets are laminated into blocks and the deep cavities cut from those.

- What's the difference between EVA cutting and foam cutting?
- The difference is the material. EVA is closed-cell: it takes up no water, absorbs more impact and cuts a cleaner edge. Polyurethane foam is open-cell: softer, cheaper and better at sound absorption, but it holds moisture. Send your product weight and transport conditions and we can say which fits.
- Do you cut antistatic EVA?
- Antistatic foams are available for static-sensitive electronic components. Just state your ESD requirement — in that case the bags, tape and labels used alongside need to be compatible too.
- Can EVA be cut in our corporate colour?
- Beyond the standard colours (black, white, grey, red, blue), custom colour is assessed by quantity. Because the pigment is through the mass, the cut edge is the same colour.
