Foam Tape
Double-sided foam tape bonds dissimilar materials permanently: a conformable foam carrier absorbs surface irregularities while the high-tack adhesive holds fast. Its vibration- and impact-damping structure gives a clean, screw-free connection for automotive trim, signage, mirror and panel mounting, with high initial grab on metal, glass, plastic, wood and painted surfaces.
Key Properties
- Double-sided high tack
- Conforms to uneven surfaces
- Vibration and impact damping
- Screw-free, clean mounting
- Various thickness and width
- Automotive, signage and furniture
Overview
Foam tape is a mounting and sealing tape made by applying adhesive to one or both faces of a conformable foam carrier. That carrier tolerates irregularities in the surface and maintains continuous contact between two parts — which a flat tape cannot do.
Gap filling
No two surfaces are ever perfectly flat. A thin film tape only grips where the surfaces touch; foam tape compresses to fill the gap and increases the bonded area, raising both joint strength and sealing performance.
Vibration damping
The foam layer acts as a mechanical buffer between the parts. In automotive trim, signage and panel mounting it reduces vibration transmitted between components and gives a clean, screw-free connection.
Choosing thickness and adhesive
Thickness follows the gap to be filled. Adhesive type follows the surface: general-purpose acrylics suit most clean surfaces, while low-surface-energy plastics and heat-exposed locations need a specific formulation.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Single or double sided?
- Double-sided to fix two parts together; single-sided for sealing, gap filling or insulation.
- Can it replace screws?
- With the right surface and tape it replaces screws in many assemblies, and because it doesn't pierce the surface it's better for appearance and sealing. For load-bearing structural joints it should be assessed alongside mechanical fixing.
- Is surface preparation needed?
- Yes. Bond performance depends heavily on surface cleanliness; dust, oil and moisture all weaken it. The surface must be dry and clean, with a few seconds of firm pressure after application. Full strength usually develops within 24 hours.
