Overview
Scrim tape is a double-sided tape with a fine mesh reinforcement between its two adhesive faces. The mesh gives tear resistance and dimensional stability, so the tape neither stretches nor snaps during application.
What the reinforcement does
Carrier-free adhesive films can stretch on application and fail to lie flat. A scrim makes the tape handleable and cuttable, and it won't deform under tension on long runs.
Typical use
Carpet and floor covering fixing, interlining and fabric joining, poster and graphic mounting, and packaging closure are the commonest applications. With both faces adhesive, two materials bond directly.
