Overview
Plain film tape is adhesive applied to a thin film with no foam carrier. Its very low thickness is why it's chosen where two parts must seat fully against each other.
When it beats foam tape
If the surfaces are flat and in full contact, no foam carrier is needed: film tape gives a thinner, stronger and visually less obtrusive bond. Where there's a gap or unevenness, move to foam tape.
Transparency
Clear film versions keep the tape invisible on glass and transparent plastic. In display cabinets, exhibition stands and decorative work that can be decisive.
Adhesive selection
The thin construction requires the adhesive to make full contact with the surface, which makes surface cleanliness even more critical than with foam tapes.
