XPE Sheet

The standard XPE sheet is the base form for applications requiring impact absorption and surface protection, thanks to its cross-linked closed-cell structure. Its uniform, homogeneous cell structure makes it easy to cut, rout and shape, giving it broad use in packaging interiors and technical insulation work. Despite its low density it offers high durability, providing a lightweight yet effective protective layer.

Product family: XPE

Key Properties

  • Homogeneous closed-cell structure
  • Easy to cut and shape
  • High impact absorption
  • Low weight
  • Multiple thickness options
  • Low water absorption

Overview

XPE sheet is a closed-cell foam based on cross-linked polyethylene, with a fine, even cell structure. Cross-linking gives it higher temperature resistance, better chemical resistance and a smoother surface than standard PE foam.

How it differs from standard PE foam

They look similar, but XPE's cells are much smaller and more regular. That means a clean, dust-free edge when cut, a softer surface to the touch, and better recovery under load. The difference shows in fitted interiors and anywhere the surface is visible.

The weight advantage

Because XPE can deliver the same protection at lower weight, it leads on projects where shipping cost is critical. On air freight and export cases that difference reaches the bottom line.

Use and processing

It takes precision die-cutting extremely well: case and luggage cavities, electronic device beds and medical equipment interiors all finish cleanly in XPE. It laminates for thickness, is produced self-adhesive, and can be heat-formed.

Applications

  • Die-cut case and luggage interiors
  • Electronic and precision instrument cavities
  • Medical equipment interiors
  • Thermal and moisture insulation
  • Automotive trim and sound insulation
  • Sports and fitness mats
  • Underlay and floor insulation
  • Presentation box interiors

Frequently Asked Questions

Is XPE or EVA better?
Neither universally. EVA absorbs more impact; XPE is lighter, cuts a cleaner edge thanks to its finer cells, and resists moisture and chemicals slightly better. Choose XPE where weight and appearance matter, EVA where impact protection comes first.
Is XPE the same as ordinary PE foam?
No. XPE is cross-linked: smaller, more regular cells, a smoother surface, and higher temperature and chemical resistance. Standard PE foam is cheaper but its cut edge and surface are coarser.
Do you produce self-adhesive XPE?
Yes. Self-adhesive XPE sheet that bonds straight to the surface is produced, with thickness and dimensions to your requirement.
