Hand Stretch Film

Hand stretch film is a high-elongation, high-cling LLDPE wrap designed for operators to secure pallets and box groups manually. Its ergonomic roll widths make it practical for small and medium-volume shipments. It delivers fast packaging without requiring any machine investment.

Product family: Stretch Film

Key Properties

  • Manual pallet wrapping
  • High elongation and cling
  • Ergonomic roll width
  • No machine investment needed
  • Protection against dust and moisture
  • Various micron options

Overview

Hand stretch film is narrow-roll, lighter-gauge film for operations wrapping pallets and cartons without a machine. It's applied with a dispenser or pulled directly by hand.

How it differs from machine film

Hand films come in shorter, lighter rolls because the operator carries the weight. Stretch ratio is also lower than machine film: a machine applies constant high tension, which cannot be delivered consistently by hand.

Correct wrapping technique

Starting at the base of the pallet and working upward in a crossing pattern ties the load to the pallet and prevents shifting. A few extra turns at the top and bottom edges secure the areas that loosen first. Wrapping without gaps also forms a barrier against dust and moisture.

Choosing micron

Light, regular loads wrap at a lower micron. Heavy, sharp-edged or irregular loads need more; otherwise the film punctures and the wrap unravels.

Pre-stretched films

Pre-stretched hand films are drawn down during manufacture. They need less force from the operator, give more consistent tension, and the lighter roll reduces fatigue — an occupational-safety gain as well as a quality one for operations wrapping manually at volume.

Common mistakes

Three recur: not tying the wrap to the pallet base (the load shifts), wrapping only around the middle (upper courses come loose), and not tensioning enough (the wrap stays slack). All three are fixed by technique at no extra cost — wrap training usually cuts damage rates more than film quality does.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can hand film replace machine film?
No. Machine film is formulated for high stretch and applied at constant tension by the machine; that tension can't be delivered by hand and the film tears. Each is made for its own application.
What micron should I choose?
A lower micron suits light, regular pallets; heavy, sharp-edged or irregular loads need a higher micron or reinforced film.
Do I need a dispenser?
Not required, but recommended. It gives more consistent tension, speeds wrapping, and reduces operator fatigue.
