Overview
PP corrugated separators are dividing and layer boards cut from polypropylene corrugated sheet. Unlike foam separators they're rigid and load-bearing: they carry the weight above them, don't sag, and can be reused many times.
When PP corrugated beats foam
A foam separator absorbs impact but carries no load. Where heavy parts stack on each other, the interleaf itself has to be structural — and PP corrugated does that. It's also unaffected by moisture, doesn't tear, and wipes clean.
Returnable use
Unlike single-use cardboard interleaves, PP corrugated survives dozens of shipments. On closed-loop transport between plants — automotive supply is the classic case — that brings packaging cost per shipment down sharply.
Processing
Sheets are cut, folded, punched and joined ultrasonically or by hot air. For cavitied layouts, foam is added to make a hybrid: PP corrugated carries the load, foam provides soft contact and location.
Antistatic and conductive options
In electronic component handling, a standard polypropylene surface accumulates static charge and can damage sensitive circuits. Antistatic-additive or conductive PP corrugated sheet removes that risk. On ESD-controlled lines, the tape and labels used need to be antistatic too, not just the board.
Life and cost comparison
PP corrugated costs more per unit than cardboard, and in exchange survives dozens of shipments. The number to compare is not unit price but cost per shipment: a board used 30 times on a closed loop comes out substantially cheaper than cardboard discarded every trip.
A packaging separator cut from PP corrugated sheet comes into its own in cases and totes meant for repeated use: it does not absorb moisture, it washes, and it lasts far longer than a foam separator.
