XPEA carrying case protects only as well as the interior inside it. In an empty case the product moves, impact passes straight to the device and parts scuff each other. Vortex Ambalaj produces die-cut EVA foam interiors for aluminium, plastic and hard-shell cases. We take the product's dimensions, centre of gravity and delicate points, cut a separate recess for every component and add pressure foam in the lid so the product locks in place. High-density EVA foam is used for field cases that are opened often, so the recess edges survive repeated use. If you already have a case we build to its internal dimensions; if not, we propose the case and the interior together.
A hard case takes the blow from outside; only the interior stops the product moving inside it. In an empty case the product strikes the shell at every jolt and the strength of the case counts for nothing. So an insert starts from the product's geometry and centre of gravity, not from the case's internal dimensions: the case sets the limits of the design, it is not its starting point.
The interior is usually two pieces. The base layer carries the cavity, and its height follows the depth of the product. In the lid goes a flat pressure pad: when the case closes, that pad presses lightly on the product and locks it down into its recess. Without it the product sits in the cavity but can leave it when the case is turned over or takes a knock from the side. The pressure has to be judged — too much strains the latches and loads the product continuously, too little leaves movement; the right figure is settled per project, on a sample.
Most damage inside a case comes not from the main product but from the small items beside it. A cable, adapter, spare tip, battery or key dropped into a shared void roams freely for the whole journey and strikes the surface of the very device you set out to protect. Giving each accessory its own recess is not tidiness — it is how the main product is protected. Recesses for small parts are cut wide enough to lift the item out and tight enough that it cannot rattle; on multi-part sets, opening a second layer is both safer and neater than forcing everything onto one plane.
Where the weight sits inside a case is a protection question more than a comfort one. With the heavy components gathered along one edge, a dropped case loads that corner far harder and the interior is strained at a single point; loaded evenly, the same case spreads the force across its base. Where possible the heavy items go near the base and in line with the handle, and light accessories move to the upper layer. That arrangement also makes the case hang level in the hand — the simplest measure there is for reducing the chance of a drop.
A presentation case is opened a few times a year; a field case is opened daily. In the second, the cavity edge wears constantly: soft material soon widens and the product starts to move. Cases in frequent use get denser materials that hold a clean cut edge. Appearance is a criterion too — velvet-faced surfaces suit presentation, display and gift cases, while durability and wipe-clean surfaces decide it for technical field cases. Where the two requirements collide, the answer is to split the layers: dense material builds the structure and only the visible face is lined.
If you already have the case, the interior is made to its internal dimensions — worth noting that those differ from the external shell, and that corner radii and hinge intrusions have to be accounted for.
